- Mantıku't-tayr, meaning bird language or speech of birds, is the story of birds that realize that their hometown is without a sultan and set out on the road. All the birds choose the hoopoe, the confidant of Prophet Solomon, as their guide on their journey to find the sultan. Hüthüt will take them to Simurg, the sultans living behind Mount Qaf. However, realizing that travel is troublesome and dangerous, the birds try to make excuses and stop setting out by asking questions about the truth on different subjects. Hüthüt, on the other hand, will try to persuade them by telling exemplary stories and stories. The road to Simurgh is the path of a man; because he will reach the truth.Mantıku't-tayr, who expresses man's search for truth in an allegorical manner, is one of the most outstanding examples of Sufi literature. Different translations of the masterpiece of the famous Iranian Sufi Feridüddin Attar into Turkish were made in different periods. The translation of Gülşehri, a contemporary of Yunus Emre, is one of the most authentic examples. Gülşehri sang Attar's immortal work with the poet's taste, with the milk teeth of Turkish. Show more
